COVID-19 Important update

Wash hands, cover sneezes, stay home if sick

COVID-19 Important Update

NSW Education is in discussion with NSW Health throughout each day. This communication assists us at Bundanoon Public School to best inform our ongoing decisions in order to keep our students, staff and broader school community safe.

If or when school closures become the best way to manage the spread of the virus in NSW, then we are ready to do so.  In the meantime, our schools provide an essential service that enables our healthcare and other essential workers to fulfil their roles.

NSW Health has advised that the 3 best ways to manage the spread of illnesses are:

1. Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly

2. Sneeze into your elbow or a tissue, dispose of the tissue straight away and then wash your hands

3. Stay home if you are unwell - in schools, staff or students who show signs of being unwell will be sent home throughout the day

NSW department of education, following advice from NSW Health has implemented the following precautions:

  • All school excursions outside of your school's local community should be cancelled until further notice
  • All overnight excursions and school camps should be cancelled until further notice
  • All major Arts, Sports and initiative activities and events will temporarily be ceased until further notice.  This includes whole school sporting events and inter-school events involving three or more schools.
  • All school assemblies should be cancelled

For us here at Bundanoon Public School, events to be cancelled include:

  • All district, zone and regional trials (including hockey & rugby league)
  • Soccer Gala Day
  • School Assemblies
  • Debating Workshops
  • Matilda excursion
  • Poetry and First Languages Workshop
  • Term 2 Canberra excursion

Please note, NSW Health has advised that no groups of students should visit aged care facilities or attend other facilities in the local community (eg hospitals) where there are elderly people or people with underlying health conditions.

NSW  Health has also advised masks are not an effective measure in protecting staff or the community from the virus and therefore no member of staff should need to wear a mask in going about their normal duties.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact your School Principal.
